Literacy Night 2017 is coming up!

February 7th 5:30-7:00

Join us for a themed night of games, prizes, and, of course, books!

Come dressed as your favorite book character, play Book Bingo for a chance to win a gift certificate to the book fair, visit your grade level’s area for a fun make and take activity, and visit the Book fair!

Other activities include:

• photo booth
• reader’s theater
• Kahoot! game show
• step-by-step illustrating
• grade level activies
• food trucks, including PDQ (Chicken) and Truck on the Bayou (Cajun food)
• S’mores for everyone
• the first 75 students will receive a free book!

The library is open for business for the 2016-2017 school year! We start library lessons this week for grades 3-5, and next week for grades K-2. Please sign and return your child’s library permission form so they can start checking out books and be on the lookout for fun events and programs throughout the year!

Introducing the Little Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List for grades K-5! I had the privilege of being on the inaugural committee that chose these wonderful books. Working through the Texas Library Association’s Children’s Round Table, the Little Mavericks read around 100 graphic novels to choose the top 53 to recommend to elementary school students.
